Hi, I’m Scott Coates, a Canadian originally from Calgary, AB. I’ve lived in Thailand since September 1999, when I came here to start a

travel company, Smiling Albino. We build high-touch, customized travel programs in SE Asia and Nepal for inquisitive travelers. We’ve built a dedicated fan base, continue to blaze new trails, set trends and remain dedicated to the Communities we operate in.
In addition to being a Director at Smiling Albino I consult for a Thai-based Team Building company, write freelance articles for magazines/websites in the region and am currently a Fellow at the East-West Center in Honolulu, HI, taking part in their Asia Pacific Leadership Program.
In my spare time I enjoy running, mountain biking, dirt biking, exploring new paths, reading, movies and sipping beer with friends.
I reside in Bangkok but also spend a good deal of time in Thailand’s northernmost province Chiang Rai, Cambodia and other regional locales.
