Back in Thailand

I recently took a mountain biking trip to southern Switzerland with a great company, Big Mountain Bike Adventures and then enjoyed a few days of rnr in Amsterdam at the end.
Having never been to mainland Europe the experience was a great one and a wonderful introduction to that part of the world.
From the moment I arrived, trains and buses were spotless, everything left at the exact scheduled times, all signs were clear, everything worked like clockwork. The mountains were gorgeous, the locals really friendly and the downhill mountain biking top-drawer. A Coke was also $4 at a simple hotel and everything pretty pricey. This is Europe I guess.

On to Amsterdam – what an architecturally wild place. I am a big fan of canals after living in Bangkok for more than eight years and really enjoyed strolling/biking around the city. The hotels are really expensive, food is too and all in all, I think there were more strange people about than in Thailand.

While I loved my European holiday, I quickly realized Thailand is a great place, on par with many of the world’s top destinations. The food is wonderful, people are friendly and there’s incredible value to be found. I’m truly happy to be living here and hope more and more people expereince the region with Smiling Albino.
